Toshiba TLP-681U: A Bright Business Product

The Toshiba TLP-681U first appeared on the markets back in September 2001, so despite all the horrible things that went on in that month, something good did emerge, even if it was just a sick LCD projector. Toshiba, it seems, is always on the cutting edge, whether it is projectors, laptops, flat screen TV’s or any other consumer electronic they produce - the TLP-681U LCD projector is no exception.

The projector lamp inside this unit pumps out a grossitating 1500 ANSI Lumens and is rated 150W UHP. In fact, you can purchase the lamp from this site by clicking here . This projector is interesting because it was one of the first projector’s to automatically fix “the trapezoid” effect. The trapezoid effect is when the projector image appears wider at the top or bottom of the screen and this problem used to annoy people back when projectors were just taking off around the turn of the century. Fortunately though, projectors have now employed a lens that is able to move up or down, and this diminishes the trapezoid effect. In the Toshiba TLP-681U, the lens is able to adjust up or down 15 degrees.

This projector also has a nifty little feature, Toshiba calls the ”overlay”or the document overwriting function. To operate the document overwriting function the user presses an “overlay” button and a preset camera image will appear on top of whatever is happening with the presentation at the time. Toshiba usually has a business oriented marketing strategy and this is why they introduced the ”overlay” function.

Running down the so-called essential projector specs, the TLP-681U has a native resolution of 1024x768 and operates with an aspect ratio of 4:3. The projector is also HDTV compatible, which is amazing considering when the projector was introduced to the market. It also has DVI and component video inputs and a contrast ratio of 400:1.

Overall, this projector is great for office presentations, though it is a little heavy to be a portable office projector (it weighs just over 9 pounds). With a new projector lamp the Toshiba TLP-681 will function and continue to be a solid projector well into the future.

As always, Toshiba performs wonderfully in a professional setting and won’t let you down.
